An Assortment: Volume VII

Getting a bit pressed for time this week, so I'm taking the easy way out with an Assortment post. :) Here are some things that I've been enjoying lately and would like to share...

  • PBS Masterpiece is back! This Sunday, April 5, is the premiere of the new miniseries, World on Fire. Starring Sean Bean (Sharpe's Rifles, Lord of the Rings), Jonah Hauer-King (Little Women, Howards End) and Helen Hunt (Mad About You), just to name a few familiar faces. I can't tell you how excited I am for this WWII-era drama! There will be cake involved. :)

  • A foolproof muffin recipe from King Arthur Flour. These have turned out perfectly every time I've made them, whether using fresh or frozen raspberries. Just look at that beautiful, tender crumb! I hope Mary Berry would be proud. :)

  • Brighten your home with some flowers. I saw these hyacinths at the grocery store the other day, and just had to bring them home with me. They have the same wonderful, heady scent as lilacs, and give me some more hope for spring. I was reminded me of the below quote. Even though our freedoms are a bit limited at present, we can still enjoy sunny days and flowers.

Just living is not enough... one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. ~Hans Christian Anderson
  • I have been so encouraged to see more people out walking than ever before. It is extremely important to get outside and breathe in some fresh air. Even overcast days can be worth the trip out the door. Case in point... last Friday was the most perfect foggy morning. If I hadn't ventured out that day, I wouldn't have captured this wonderful moody scene, which seems straight out of a gothic novel.

  • This made me laugh. It's hilarious to hear this frank opinion of collecting recyclables for craft purposes. Although I can attest to the usefulness of egg cartons; they are the best seed-starting trays you will ever find! :)

Thank you for stopping by,

Eva
